“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.”

                                                                               MICHELANGELO

My name is Jacob William James Harris. I have graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design on May 31st 2014 with a degree in Industrial Design. My decision to attend SCAD was based upon being recruited to play baseball. From 2010 to 2012 I was recruited by SCAD and played baseball on an athletic scholarship.

I was convinced to chose Advertising as my major of study. One day I decided to tour the rest of the campus and what I found was inspiring. Falling upon the Industrial Design building, I fell in love with the technology and character it presented to me. For the past four years, I studied Industrial Design learning new methods and technologies that have helped me become a better designer, student, and person. Some of the attributes I possess include CAD modeling, using Rhino and Solid-works, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I can certainly say that with these skills, I have found a distinct passion and a keen eye for design. While acquiring these tools for design, I have implemented certain guidelines that I believe will help create a solution by design.

Research is my first step as I begin by evaluating what the consumer wants and what exists on the market, along with other categories of research. Next is to create. As I begin to conceptualize with my research in mind, new concepts and ideas flow in attempt to create something new. The final step is to assure that the end product is a solution and not just a product. A good design should carry meaning and possess a solution while having longevity in the product. Therefore I do not believe in just making simple and meaningless products, I believe in designing a solution.
